Whenever we stay doing a job we no longer enjoy, the reasons are usually entwined around financial security and a belief that we have no other options. So rather than quit, we stay put and begrudgingly continue to grind away, often unaware of the grinding away it's doing to ourselves in the process.
What if we really screw things up and can no longer support ourselves? Our mind, with all its 'what ifs' can be pretty convincing. It can keep us frozen and rooted in a career we've come to despise. It can have us believing that it's safer to stay put than to step out into the great unknown. And this is probably true to some degree, but the unknown is where all the possibilities live!
We each have inherent talents and gifts we excel in. These abilities are 100% aligned with our passion and they point to the kind of work that would bring us the most joy, satisfaction and often the most money. What a disservice we do to ourselves and our world when we settle for less than that.
So how do we get out of the fear rut so we can begin doing what we love?
- By knowing we can.
- By believing in ourselves.
- By telling the nay sayers and the fears to f-off!
- By pushing beyond our comfort zones.
- By taking chances.
- By not stopping until we're where we wanna to be.
Of course once we get there, there will probably be another 'there' we'll wanna explore, but that's the fun of it all! When it comes to doing what we love, if we're not all in, we're out - out of our integrity, out of sync and outside of what could be exhilarating and prosperous ventures. We gotta stop 'half-assin' it and courageously jump all in and begin creating a life and a living that we're totally passionate about.
