If you have questions or if there is something you would like me to write about, click the contact button and shoot me a message. I would love to hear from you! Here is today's Q&A session....
Q: I have realized that there are certain things and people in my world that are not good for me, that de-stabilize me, that make me feel insecure about myself, that make me feel rejected and abandoned, and so unloved and yet I have such a hard time letting go of anything. Why would I want to keep someone or something in my life that makes me feel so awful about myself?
A: These types of people mirror the parts of us that already feel insecure, rejected, abandoned and unloved. They are affirming what we believe about ourselves. They are the messengers pointing to our pain and where we are losing power. No one 'makes' us feel anything. Those feelings must already be within us, to have attracted these particular individuals into our lives. Sometimes, we want to shoot the messengers and blame them for how we feel. In so doing, we shirk responsibility and miss a growth opportunity. I'm certainly not suggesting to keep these people in your life. I'm simply saying, realize why they have come. Once the message has been received, you will naturally move on from them.
Q: I do believe that everyone is a mirror for us. We reflect back to each other. Maybe we need to shatter that mirror!!
A: The mirror itself is simply a reflector. Since we are always viewing life through our own individual lens, when we feel insecure, rejected, abandoned or unloved, we are emanating those vibes outward and life responds.
I'm willing to bet that most people want to be unconditionally loved and accepted for who they are. To accomplish this we have to face ourselves in the mirror, acknowledge what we're afraid of and express any pain residing within us. It may seem easier to just blame others for how we feel, that way we can avoid that plunge into ourselves, which I admit is rarely much fun. However, the only way to really shatter any unwanted mirroring, is by accepting and loving ourselves, then others will simply mirror that.
