Why does it seem so easy to forfeit integrity, when it comes to money?
The big sparkle comes along, captivating, blinding, hooking, seducing us away from our veracity. Glistening so bright we see nothing else, focused only on seizing it, no matter the cost. Obsessing. Stepping wherever and on whomever to get our hands on it. Saying and doing whatever it takes to possess it. Ignoring principles. Kidding ourselves. Claiming it's the right way, since so many are pointing, persuading and spurring us on. A masquerade of hidden agendas. The tantalizing gleam obscuring the warnings. Justifying actions. Pushing away feelings and anything not in alignment with the gain. Smiling. Charming. Feeding egos in an attempt to beguile and obtain the prize. A charade most eloquently described as: 'bullshit.'
Deceiving or taking advantage of others to enrich ourselves, often leads to our own undoing, because whenever we exchange our soul for external glitz, we are left with nothing of significant value. Surrendering integrity for personal gain is a sad road indeed, for the gain is never greater than the loss, even if we refuse to admit it.
There's nothing more precious in life, than our love and compassion for each other! I would rather leave this world penniless, if having wealth means giving that up. But I know it doesn't. It's never necessary, nor wise, to toss away our internal riches for the sake of external ones. Doing so will always lead to destruction. I can't think of anything more soul-crushing that we could do to ourselves.
Following our heart, our passion, our truth will always lead to life's greatest treasures.
