Self-Empowerment

Self-Empowerment

March 23, 2015

The definition of empowerment is: 'to give power.' On an individual basis this would mean, giving power to the self or standing in one's personal power. This inherent power source is something we're all born with. Yet the older we get, the more it seems this internal flame fades until there's barely anything left but a few extinguishing embers.

To find a way back to our power requires a shedding of the layers of sediment we've collected over the years that blanket our brillance. We have to start from right now and decide who we want to be. This means redefining our values, ideologies, boundries, passions, desires, while acknowledging our wounds, triggers and fears. Removing obstacles and realizing who we really are and what we wish to accomplish, enables us to make conscious choices that give power back to our lives.

In truth, we are all powerful beyond our wildest imaginings. The difference between those who own their power and those who don't, is simply their belief system.

Our beliefs grow from thoughts, which arrive at their conclusions based on our past experiences. From time to time, these beliefs need to be reviewed and revised. Especially if these experiences were so tough they left us viewing ourselves as victims. I'm not suggesting we have never been a victim of something or that there were not times when we were unable to defend ourselves. What I'm trying to make clear is, taking on the mind-set of victim doesn't serve us, because with this outlook we might continue to allow people to push us around and not stand up for ourselves; we may give-up or give-in too easily, suffer from depression or carry around a smouldering rage that impedes us from finding true peace. These types of responses are all sourced from past experiences where we felt 'powerless.'

We are not powerless anymore.

We can shift from a victim mentality to a more champion-like mindset by gaining a better understanding of ourselves. Like why we respond to life the way we do; what we feel and why we feel it; what we do and why we do it. This helps us see more clearly why our lives have unfolded the way they have, and how our beliefs about ourselves often trigger our responses to what is happening around us. This knowledge helps us see where to begin making revisions.

Once we shift into a place of personal empowerment, we will find that our lives begin to flow more freely and abundantly. Our relationships improve, our health improves, our finances improve, our creativity eccelerates and the ideal direction for us to go becomes distinctly evident.

Begin.
