The Past

The Past

July 15, 2017

No matter how much we look back and try to analyze what happened in our past or try to understand why perhaps someone did what they did that affected us deeply, we'll never truly understand because we're not that person. We've not walked in their shoes. We don't know their reasons, feelings, or viewpoint. We can only see through our own lens and imagine what we would have done, or not done, if we were them. Yet our speculations are just that - speculations. They will never be precise.

No matter how much we mentally dissect it; ask why the hell it had to happen; try to make sense of it all, the bottom line is - it happened. We have no way of going back and changing it. Can we accept that? Can we proceed? Or due to these happenings must we resign ourselves to an existence filled with things that continually trigger our fear, resentment, judgment, pain and anger?

Well, the choice is always ours to make.

Those triggers are messengers sticking their finger in our wounds and pointing out where we're stuck. For various and valid reasons, many of us experienced situations where in order to cope or survive, we buried our feelings. Yet today we always have the prerogative to look inside ourselves and reconnect with those feelings. In so doing, we free ourselves to move on.

This isn't mind-work. This is feeling-work. It's like opening the door to our heart and setting the ache free.

By allowing such feelings to rise up to the surface, we're finally able to feel them fully and express them out, rather than carrying them around like baggage that impedes our journey. No we can't change what occurred and how it affected us, however, we do have complete power in how those occurrences will affect us now.

Feeling and expressing our interred emotions shifts our perception from one of blame and fear to one of self-empowerment. It spontaneously dissolves the victim-mentality and sets us free to be our authentic selves. No more pretending to be okay, for calm fills the space where the pain used to live.

We are all organically loving and peaceful. Anytime we find ourselves irrepressibly outside that natural state of being is an indication there are pent-up feelings that need some tending to.

Oh, what could be if only we stopped carrying the debris of what was.

I hope you'll let it go.

You're so darn AMAZING!
