In my opinion, being a solopreneur beats the heck out of working for someone else's dream, however, being your own boss and living consciously often creates internal static. How does one maintain spiritual integrity in the world of business where money seems the motivating factor?
Having owned numerous businesses throughout my life, at times it seemed as if I were alone in my struggle for inner harmony. Many of my friends seemed to be expert jugglers, effortlessly flipping numerous facets of their lives without dropping the ball, while if I dared push forward in one area, I often fell short in another. And if I made the decision to spent an evening pursuing my writing, rather than networking my business, I would end up feeling guilty for spending so much time doing the thing I loved most, but which didn't necessarily bring home the bacon.
What it delivered instead was deep, rich fulfillment with a side of conflicting tension, for I had made the conscious decision early on in my life to always follow my artistic passion rather than green pieces of paper. But where had this actually gotten me in the broader scheme of things? Was there a way to live my passion AND create financial wealth without feeling like a fraud? For god sakes, why did it have to be one way or the other? Couldn't I have both? Where did these goofy limiting beliefs originate from anyhow?
Upon turning a half-century old, my children grown and my first book completed, it was time to re-examine my life and my way of thinking. What exactly was my motivation in life???
After some deep soul searching I found my answer - freedom. The freedom to write, the freedom to make a difference in the lives of others, including my children, the freedom to travel and see the world, the freedom to purchase a cozy little beach home and walk the shore every single day of my life and to live stress-free. These are the things that make my soul sing and this meant only one thing - getting serious about creating my FINANCIAL freedom. It was time to walk that road to my personal liberation and acheive my dream!
Throughout my journey, I've discovered that the key to maintaining harmony in my life is living fully present in each moment, maintaining a state of gratitude, being strategic with my time, telling that voice in my head to "shut up" when it insists that I can't have it all.
We live in an abundant universe that will bless us with everything we desire if we simply get out of the way and open ourselves to receive its bounty. Today, I am finding my own unique rhythm between feeding my soul, being a successful conscious-preneur and being authentically me.
